Boris Johnson is fumbling all over the place even now, four years on. In October 2007 when his fumbling was spotted....Boris came unstuck even though he grabbed a Barclays business Bike paid for by the people of London and faked on as he embarked on a photo opps pedalling procedure along side the man who had so aptly diagnosed his act back in 2007. It was not Boris who was on hand to take the flack for the latest evidence of allegations that the “law and order” agencies in London were failing to perform to the required standard. Fronting those forces, of course, were the London Metropolitan Police who were castigated for the latest batch of failures. Protesters mounted the imaginary wall from where they issued a few seconds of chanting calls apparently for the consumption of the attending servile media of the “mainstream”. That the media in the British mainstream - and come to that on the majority of the side streams - is servile became clear in the hours that followed when the first of the two ‘mainstream London TV news bulletins’ failed to report the events at all. ITV London Tonight did not report the events and the BBC London News gave the occurrences as little contextual coverage as they could carry off. The people in and of London deserve much better than either ITV or the BBC are willing to provide. The people deserve the truth. And nothing but the truth. Nothing less than the truth. the ordinary! people in the area would have noticed. There would have! been credible evidence of the ‘locals’ anger’. That! cannot be said.

there has been is the failure on! the part of Tower Hamlets Council, the ‘locals’! ‘elected local body’ within the existing UK! ‘constitution’.
The
‘deal’ therefore is between that! Council and the 2012 Games Hosting bureaucracies. They! want to create an impression that ‘2012 Games! Hosting’
‘benefits are being brought to the local! community’ when the truth is that the Council and their! counterpart bureaucrats have been exposed as
having! failed to deliver deliver any sustainable benefits to! the people in the area. The most recently published! findings on social and economic
research once again! show Tower Hamlets to be at the top of the list of the! boroughs across England with the highest numbers of! people in chronic
income slump with indices on health,! education and skills all showing serious persistent ! deficits and underachievement. This statement could be!-

Brick Lane in London's East End was dubbed Curry Capital 2012 on Wednesday as part of a peace deal with angry locals after the Olympic marathons

Denis Oswald, chairman of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) commission checking on progress for the Games, joined London 2012 chairman
Sebastian Coe and Tower Hamlets mayor Lutfur Rahman in strolling down a street famed for its cuisine.
"The Olympic Games is on the doorstep. It gives the opportunity for Tower Hamlets and Brick Lane to be showcased in an extraordinary way," said Coe
after sampling the local poppadoms.
"It's an iconic street in London and throughout the world now.
"The Olympic Games is probably going to attract between 800,000 and a million extra people to London," added Coe. "This is a great street, a great
community for people to spend time between all the fantastic sporting competitions."
A deal was agreed last month between the organising committee and Tower Hamlets after the council had called for a judicial review of the decision to
move the marathon route away from the East End.
The council had also accused the organisers of being "ashamed of the very communities who helped London win the Games."
"The curry industry contributes some four billion pounds to the treasury and Brick Lane and 'Banglatown' also plays a big part in contributing to the
treasury coffers," Rahman told Reuters as he waited for Coe and Oswald to arrive.
"I read somewhere that Queen Victoria used to like a curry here and there."
The new marathon route begins and ends outside Buckingham Palace, official residence of the British monarch since the days of Queen Victoria.
Oswald, who will hold a news conference on Friday at the end of the visit, said he liked what he had seen and tasted.
"We were at the Park yesterday and it's 80 percent finished, which is very impressive if you think it's more than one year to go until the Games," he told

"It's a unique situation in Games history and why we feel we are in a very comfortable position."

The peg today has been the so-called cricket diplomacy activities during the current ‘world Cup’.

Why is Mr Alex Kenny posing 'against' CUTS?
We have shocking questions for him. Those questions include this one: where was Mr Alex Kenny exactly on the evening of 8 March 2011, only three weeks ago when the Tower Hamlets Council was doing the cuts that it WASN'T UNDER A LEGAL DUTY to make? Was Mr Alex Kenny demonstrating against THAT? If not, why not?
Mr Alex Kenny is fast becoming a fixture in the propaganda parades of the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets CORRUPT Council.
The clique is a corrupt Clique and as it controls the Council, the Council, to that extent gets to be corrupted and on the facts is corrupt. Mr Kenny has nought to say about the Council. Not if he is required to tell the truth about the lies that Tower Hamlets Council controlling clique tells about its being under a duty to make the cuts that it has made [dated 08 March 2011] by defying the constitutional duty and obligation to show to the people in the Borough why it must make the cuts. That is why Mr Alex Kenny was not to be seen demonstrating truthfully outside the Council at the Mulberry place on 8 March 2011.
Mr Alex Kenny wasn’t demonstrating EITHER against the “UNDERCOVER” Chief executive “Dr” Kevan Collins who on that same date [08 March 2011] officiated as the issuer of the ‘stamp of official authority’ justifying the BLOCKING of people in Tower Hamlets from being able to even THINK that they were entitled to attend as “OBSERVERS” as the Council claque went about making the cuts that CONDEM Cameron craved but had no legal let alone moral right to demand. So what was Mr Alex Kenny doing when hundreds of Tower Hamlets residents, electors, camapgners, thinkers, commentatrors got denied the right to attend as observers at the public gallery on 08 March 2011? It has ticked all the boxes. I want to specifically to talk about round one consultation. This demonstrates what should be done in round one.
I wish to show to you we were deliberately excluded from round one consultation I think simply because, had we done that, we would have been able to say this is not the route of the line. Had we been able to say this is not the route of the line, then they really have not considered our evidence.
Now we are at the 11th hour when we are still told by the Promoters it is impossible, but I wish to show you that I believe that we were deliberately excluded from that process because this is the process that they followed and it is quite true that you will see that they were supposed to talk to people.
In fact in a Cabinet paper, my paper 14, a report to Tower Hamlets Council in October 2002, the local authority were urging CLRL to immediately begin communicating the benefits of Crossrail to local residents and businesses in advance of their local public consultation on detailed impacts, something that never happened, or even the local authority, which I find very surprising, were asking in 2002.
In 2003, they were writing to a resident of old St Patrick's school, who was on the edge of what was originally the worksite of round one, telling him in fact that they were waiting to go out on public consultation but assuring him it would be a much smaller scale of work.
They would be driving in both directions from a site in Hanbury Street, the routes would be used to deliver boxes and lines and at the completion of the works, we will probably have a local route for railway, communications and power cables and telling us that ground conditions for the construction of tunnels east of Hanbury were going to be very difficult. All of this they knew since July 2003, and yet SSBA, you might say, had not an inkling of this until we ran into a neighbour in January 2004. Nobody knew anything about it.
In September 2003 they were talking to people in the east of the borough about route alignments and where the portal would be and quite rightly, just as it said in the consultation document of what they were surely doing, they were negotiating and talking.
I believe I heard earlier on they moved that portal to a better place having discussed it with local people. Yet we were going to have the only and the largest worksite in our midst and not one word was asked from our community. In fact, when the Department for Transport wrote back to the letters in which I said we wanted to extend the period, they wrote back and said that they understood our organisation was previously not known to Crossrail, the Promoters, but that we would now be on a database and informed of future things.
It is true that we were informed of future things. I want to say to them and exactly what I told Mr Stark when I wrote to him, I found it difficult to believe we were not known because on 7 October, less than a week before, in fact, two weeks before the consultation process that they so‑called "took out", I had the land registry people coming to my office asking for details of which properties we owned.

In a comment on the “EAST LONDON ADVERTISER” web site, posted at 09330 GMT [that is in the past 15 minutes] BHANGEELAAR! tells the “EAST LONDON ADVERTISER””-
“Another exclusive fact we can share with your readers is this:
Tower Hamlets Councillor Ohid Ahmed, 'deputy mayor' in Tower Hamlets, has now been shown in a broadcast item shown on the Bangladesh-based satellite Channel i television, as having REPEATEDLY stated, speaking in semi-Bangla and semi-Seelotee, that THE BUDGET in Tower Hamlets is SET BY US [he meant the Council] and NOT by the MPs. Which is what has happened.
And this is in direct contrast to the APPEARANCE by the Council to the effect that the UK Central Govt has FORCED the Council to make the CUTS.
This latter line is suggested by your headline and the story. Now, Ohid Ahmed's positron must be untenable as what he says is accurate and what the rest of the CUTS-making Council clique says is inaccurate and even untrue.
For ease of reference for all genuine students of political behaviour and betrayal, the broadcast item we here refer to has been RELAYED or rebroadcast by another channel, of the ‘same name’ but operated by a different "proprietor" or operator or contractee and based in London.

Ohid Ahmed has said that MPs do not have any control on the budget. Nor does the UK central Government.
This is made very clear in the repeatedly made statement saying that Tower Hamlets Council alone is responsible for making the budget. For fixing the budget.
For setting the budget. Ohid Ahmed spoke in semi-Seelotee, semi-Bangla and used different phrases which amounted to the same thing. That no outside body or Agency or institution fro setting the budget.
It is the Tower Hamlets Council that has been responsible for doing so. This statement is a very clear contradiction of the untruthful position that has been stated for MONTHS by the Tower Hamlets Council CLIQUE IN SUPPORTING THE CONDEM CUTS AGENDA.

Your journalistic duty is to state that fact and to then show that the ones that were evidently too eager to be photographed on 26 March 2011 as 'joining the protest march against the cuts' had actively BACKED the cuts made by Tower Hamlets Council on 8 March 2011.

One of the “Mainstream” “British” “politicians” who was caught in theft and fraud and who in that state was forced under pressure of the scandal that engulfed him to reveal his greedy motives was a Harold Wilson Government minister John Stonehouse! He went on to be prosecuted for theft and was jailed. In his “defence” Stonehouse made lengthy references to his claimed support for the liberation of Bangladesh. This was not believed as he was exposed as having stolen money from people by setting up[ a Bank with the name Bangladesh in it. None of his alleged colluders ion that scam was prosecuted. Stonehouse to this day remains on the list of “honourable foreigners” according to sources inside the various regimes in Bangladesh over the decades. In his “books”, Stonehouse has accused “Bengalis” [he appears not to know Bangladesh in an international context] of being dishonest and unreliable. Although Stonehouse made these allegations THIRTY YEARS ago, no Bangladeshi Political party or Party Political or related Organisation or interest group has been publicly known to have even acknowledged these. How is that so important? Because many of the people whose money Stonehouse stole were Bangladeshis! Just as the vats majority of Bangladeshis robbed by First Solutions in 2007 have been Bangladeshis in the UK. And that is only the tip of the iceberg. [To be continued]

One of the “Mainstream” “British” “politicians” who was caught in theft and fraud and who in that state was forced under pressure of the scandal that engulfed him to reveal his greedy motives was a Harold Wilson Government minister John Stonehouse! He went on to be prosecuted for theft and was jailed. In his “defence” Stonehouse made lengthy references to his claimed support for the liberation of Bangladesh. This was not believed as he was exposed as having stolen money from people by setting up[ a Bank with the name Bangladesh in it. None of his alleged colluders ion that scam was prosecuted. Stonehouse to this day remains on the list of “honourable foreigners” according to sources inside the various regimes in Bangladesh over the decades. In his “books”, Stonehouse has accused “Bengalis” [he appears not to know Bangladesh in an international context] of being dishonest and unreliable. Although Stonehouse made these allegations THIRTY YEARS ago, no Bangladeshi Political party or Party Political or related Organisation or interest group has been publicly known to have even acknowledged these. How is that so important? Because many of the people whose money Stonehouse stole were Bangladeshis! This particular footage was broadcast at the beginning of March 2011 on the BBC TV London news programme. Although presented by the BBC London ‘Political Editor’ Tim Donovan, the segment was devoid of the real political ingredients that mist have been included if it was intended to convey the true facts to viewers. Instead the segment was entirely artificial in that it did not show the truth of the role of the pro-CONDEM ‘Labour’ time-servers like Steve Bullock the ‘directly elected executive mayor’ in the south London Borough of Lewisham. Instead the BBC’s reference to Lewisham's setting the cuts budget was totally irrelevant to the real struggle.
If anything, that reference itself condemned anti-cuts protesters as a nuisance in effect and thereby gave legitimacy to Bullock’s stealth of the right to say NO.
Bullock did that by hiding the CUTS budget in the morning, an unprecedented act for an allegedly democratically elected local Council! And that struggle continues today, Sunday 27 March 2011 within the 24 hour frame of the formal staging of a hugely orchestrated show demo against CONDEM CUTS by the State-controlled Trade union Congress [=TUC] in London.
The illogicality and the artificiality of the State-controlled agenda of the BBC and that of the TUC was given full confirmation and endorsement by Ed Miliband who duly delivered the bogus speech that he has made his speciality! The day’s real politics was observed in the BBC’s overzealous over-faked dedication to following what its succession of scripted ‘news’ bulletin presenters and reporters kept denouncing as diverters, the ‘anarchists’ ‘bent’ on clashing with the police and attacking some buildings in Oxford Street and then massing in the Trafalgar Square.
The truth is that the NO CUTS DAY OF ACTION was nothing of the sort.

On that day, UNLIKE TODAY, the BBC was in denial and it failed to report that demonstration in anything like the ‘almost positive way’ it is doing today's ‘NO CUTS’ demo! On Saturday 15 February 2003 the BBC had hundreds of camera crew recording the entrie demonatsriuon and yet it did NOT bridacst the newes! David Cameron, the Tony Bliar-heir-in-his mind is fast confirming the truth of his deep ignorance of and contempt for society. If his utterances, prompted by the BBC today as part of THEIR ignorance about their duty to tell the truth about Society, are to be believed. He has uttered another idiotic ‘sermon’ extolling the virtues of parental role and duty about crime.
He has not visited the estates in the inner cities at all.
And he most certainly has no idea about the bankrupt councillors that trade in the name of the ‘Conservative Party’ on many of the inner city local borough councils. Including Tower Hamlets Council.
In my empirical studies of London over the past four decades, I have not once met or come across or been aware of a single “elected councillor”, of any Party affiliation [or none] in any part of London who has shown ANY sign of being EVEN AWARE of their duty to be a “democratically elected representative of the electors” first and foremost. It follows that the idiotic words delivered in the off-puttingly complacent accent by David Cameron as broadcast by the BBC today [Thursday 24 March 2011], are irrelevant at best and contemptible in their implications.
And the context of Cameron’s complacence about crime in the community makes his position even less acceptable. Cameron is an arms-salesman in the “interenational market” who is now engaged in a business enterprise that is causing deaths to innocent people while creating the “need” for any amount of arms to be destroyed and others. even more ‘efficient’ ones to be manufactured.
The BBC have avoided all references to CXamerobn’s arms-salesman role altogether in their plugs for Cameron via the BBC’s own “charity” work as a bargaining strategy claiming that the BBC does “support” the little ones! [To be continued]

I am commenting this morning on the contents of a 3 minute appearance by Ed Balls on the BBC Breakfast programme

. Balls is the name that Michael Heseltine had used in a bid to create a sense of serious anxiety and fear in the assembled Con Party members of the time.
It is clear from Balls’ perofrmance on the BBC Breakfast slot that Ed Miliband too is not feeling too easy after Osborne's trickery.
Why? On the evidence of this appearance, Balls is miles ahead of Miliband.
Whether Balls will be able to escape the plotters inside the Bliared Party bureaucracy is a moot point at this stage.
The bigger question is: has Balls really got the grit and the integrity to face up to the failures of the Party STILL in de facto power on local Councils and in thousands of posts and positions across the country?

There is far too much to do! So you must excuse me if I don’t go on talking about how I met Kay Jordan. And one of the things that still requires a lot of work is the defence of the East End against the Agenda of Big Business that has been driving the Crossrail scam.
Crossrail is wrongly described as a ‘biggest’ thins or “biggest’ that. It is in fact the thin edge of the wedge. Much more waste and much more environmental damage is entailed in it than the sum of £17 Billion or £15 Billion recited about it conveys. Kay Jordan understood this. Hence her dedication.
Although at any time she could call on any of the few dozen people who she was in daily contact with as part of their work contract, she scarcely did that. Instead, Kay put in extra hours so that the campaign against the Big Biz agenda Crossrail hole plot was active and on the road.
Many that stood to gain personally from a successful outcome to the immediate aspect of the campaign against Crossrail were unable to appreciate the impact of the plotted hole on their lives and on those of their families and neighbourhoods.
Kay Jordan personally did not have anything to lose even if Crossrail hole had been allowed to be dug in the Brick Lane London E1 area.
Yet she is the one who came forward and stood next to me and said,
“ I am with you. We shall campaign and we shall stop them.”

We shall publish key facts of cases based on actual policy operated whereby very highly motivated and capable individuals being pushed into poverty by the local Council.
Our series of exclusive reports will feature places and activities that will be very familiar to many both in Tower Hamlets and in other boroughs. One of the many such individuals is a long standing member of the community in the East End. She is well educated and very well motivated. Yet she is without income. Despite years of representation, she has been let down by the Council. The Council operates the poverty-creation scams as part of the agenda that David Cameron and his CONDEM Collusion is pursuing through the DWP [the Department for Work and Pensions].
The most important strategic aim in the running of that agenda is to get people in low income out of their homes and out of what remains of their communities. The brazen blitz on benefits is being pursued in war like manner with each and every legal claim being teated as an illegal one to begin with.
Thousands of families are being kept on tenterhooks by being submerged in litters of eviction threats. The strange thing is that the Richard Desmond-ed SUNDAY EXPRESS has shown ‘awareness’ of something that it is usually in denial of. POVERTY in Britain.
So why is the SUNDAY EXPRESS running the front page story today about the country being in starvation: “UK BEGINS TO STARVE”?
Is it part of Desmond’s state of mind that is doing it? That he cannot bear to mention either Libya or Muammar Gaddafi without feeling unwell?
So powerful is the hatred of Gaddafi in Desmond’s ‘journalistic culture’ [!!!!] that he is forced to accept the bit of the truth about the really horrible agenda that the CONDEM COLLUSION in the UK is all about: to CREATE MORE POVERTY in Britain!
Desmond has not personally signed the piece as such. But his true agenda is behind the SUNDAY EXPRESS diversion.
The SUNDAY EXPRESS does NOT represent the rights of people who are already in poverty.
Nor has it any true evidential ground to claim to have conducted a sustained and consistent campaign to expose the real villains who cause poverty and who keep poverty going as part of the agenda of corrupt politics that the SUNDAY ENDERS shores up and backs.
The DESMOND-owned ‘newspaper and media’ outlets are among the worst offenders who daily violate the universally recognisable; rights of the people who are pushed into poverty involuntary. Hence the cheap, dishonest and misleading and untruthful tales peddled by these outlets; that paint the people in involuntary poverty as being willingly so.
The DESMOND ‘media’ outlets also conceal the evidence that would in fact expose such villains as David Fraud [currently engaged in perpetrating a morality-free act of robbing the people of their rights to dignity and decency] to be a political careerist and opportunistic defrauder of the rights of millions of people who are and have been in involuntary poverty, destitution in Britain for years and even longer. So long as DESMOND - or for that matter the ‘rest’ of ‘Fleet Street’ - keep shielding the real villains [the placemen and placemen as ministers in CONDEM and in other varieties of ‘Government’ who in fact front the even realler [there is another coinage by your diagnostic commentator] agenda-setters namely the Big Business Military Industrial Complex and their assortments of agents, stooges across both ‘Whitechapel’ and in local agencies including inside the locally “elected” Councils, and regional assemblies] there cannot be the environment that is very urgently needed whereby the democratic voices of the people thus economically disenfranchised can be effectively, sustainably and credibly heard and the appropriate rules, regulations and legislation can be put in place and updated so that there is no denial of rights, no hunger, no destitution and most emphatically no starvation.
The DESMOND media will NOT campaign for such change either centrally or via the elected House of Commons or the elected charades of regional assemblies or indeed their still ‘continuing’ local boroughs and or parish versions .

One of the things that I experienced in June 2006 and to which I have been waiting to get a definitive truthful and constitutional answer has been the physical provocation I and others with me encountered from the personnel on alleged duty to guard the building. This is the reason why the Speaker of the UK House of commons will have to do a good deal of explaining. I last contacted the office of the ‘present holder in the office of’ the Speaker, John Bercow in February this year and was not abel to get from the individual who answered the call the constitutional reason why the personnel put in place in controlling our entrance into the main building in June 2006 behaved in the hostile, offensive, inciting way that they did behave.
And the reason why I am writing here expressly about this is the obstruction that Michael Martin’s ‘regime in the Speaker’s domain’ had put in the way of practical communication to his office.
The present one is said to also be in denial about IT.
John Bercow's office told me that Mr Bercow does not accept emails. I shall be updating on this strange claim here in due course.

The way that Cameron has been faking Bliar’s globe-trotting grandstanding pose as the REAL USA Military Industrial Complex [the dissector of the MIC is of course the late John K Galbraith] AGENT shows that Cameron, like Bliar, has 'full confidence' in the UK Media backing HIS Mid East adventures.

Mann also wondered how David Cameron could substantiate what he was claiming as the real purpose behind the UN Security Council’s Resolution about Libya.
I say Mann ‘inadvertently’ did that because had he done the minutes’ long stint on the BBC as an integral part of a universally objective and ethically warranted theme, he would have asked what the official Opposition in the UK Parliament was doing on the matter.
But Mann did not do connection.
The contrast with the Olly Mann de facto perpetuation of the Cameron neo-imperialistic stance [now being fomented via the incredibly opportunistic and diversionary occupant of the post of the President of France Sarko] had been provided by a Washington DC based commentator, Phyllis Bennie, on USA role in the Middle East. Phyllis Bennie [her comments about UNSC on Libya, as recorded on the video with this URL makes the key points http://www.ips-dc.org/media/phyllis_bennis_on_libya_and_no-fly_zones], speaking to BBC News Channel from Washington within hours of the scandalously fabricated UN Security Council Libya Resolution, warned that that would lead to dangerous consequences for the world. On the lethal ignorance of the desperate imperialist. The desperate imperialists are endangering the safety and the security of our world once again.
As exposed even on the BBC TV channel this morning [Saturday 19 March 2011] albeit in an unintentional way.
That exposure occurred in a clip on the BBC TV programme “Breakfast” where a guest promoter of the front pages of “Fleet Street” dailies [sounds so “ancient”, thus making another statement about our times!] ‘inadvertently’ made the reference to Tony Blair’s roles on Libya. Mann also wondered how David Cameron could substantiate what he was claiming as the real purpose behind the UN Security Council’s Resolution about Libya.
I say Mann ‘inadvertently’ did that because had he done the minutes’ long stint on the BBC as an integral part of a universally objective and ethically warranted theme, he would have asked what the official Opposition in the UK Parliament was doing on the matter.
But Mann did not do connection.
The contrast with the Olly Mann de facto perpetuation of the Cameron neo-imperialistic stance [now being fomented via the incredibly opportunistic and diversionary occupant of the post of the President of France Sarko] had been provided by a Washington DC based commentator, Phyllis Bennies, on USA role in the Middle East. Phyllis Bennies [her comments about UNSC on Libya, as recorded on the video with this URL makes the key points http://www.ips-dc.org/media/phyllis_bennis_on_libya_and_no-fly_zones], speaking to BBC News Channel from Washington within hours of the scandalously fabricated UN Security Council Libya Resolution, warned that that would lead to dangerous consequences for the world. NOT that the BBC News Channel has maintained that very important observation. Instead the BBC has reinstalled the Empire Agenda and has revived Tony Bliar in all but name.

Yesterday’s London EVENING STANDARD’s denunciation of Karen Buck, MP who is also one of Ken Livingstone's ‘mayoral candidacy campaign team members’ [2012], is very timely reminder of where the DISPOSSESSION-creating journalism is heading.
The EVENING STANDARD WANTS MORE DISPOSSESSION in London, not less. And the Karen Buck ‘tactics’, AS REPORTED by the EVENING STANDARD, will make things even worse for people in areas like Tower Hamlets unless she and anyone else who may actually want to stop the Tory attacks on the low income sections of the population get a fast grip of the so-called ‘evidence’.
Evidence that Tories like ex MP [CON] Marion Roe’s daughter Phillipa Roe [Housing chair, City of Westminster and one of the most Right-wing ‘local’ Councillors to be found anywhere in the UK today] have been abusing in their promotion of internal deportation of people already denied basic equality of income and all that goes with income parity.
The ‘tactics’ that Karen Buck has used are false, as they really rely on the emotion of the matter rather than the substance. She should go for the substance and concentrate her energies on showing the truth of HOW the Tories are CREATING POVERTY by using Housing as they have been for the past three years of the reinforced propaganda bandwagon following the take-over of ‘the Onion’ by the truly Right-wing brigade brought in by Boris Johnson.

Twelve months on from Boris Johnson’s election as London mayor Tory politicians are stamping their mark on the capital. Crispin Dowler meets the key players and discovers the national significance of their housing policies.
Boris Johnson’s election as London mayor – a year ago this week – marked a tidal shift in the political character of the capital. That day made Mr Johnson the first Conservative in the role and one of the most powerful Tories in the country. It also made him one of the most powerful figures in housing.
He inherited from his Labour predecessor, Ken Livingstone, sweeping new powers to decide major planning applications, and major influence over the city’s £5 billion housing budget.
For Conservative boroughs, this was a dramatic reversal of fortune. Mr Livingstone’s mayoralty had been marked by wars of attrition over housing between City Hall and Conservative councils like Hammersmith & Fulham. The former mayor thought Tory councils were reluctant to provide new social homes, and would not do so without pressure. The boroughs countered that his centrepiece policy – that half of all new homes should be affordable – impeded development.
But the significance extends beyond London. A post-Budget YouGov/Daily Telegraph poll put the Conservatives 18 points ahead of Labour. With the prospect of a Tory government looming large, the symbolic importance of a Conservative-controlled capital is not lost on the national party.
For anyone keen to know what the next government’s housing policy might be, London has become the Petri dish to examine Conservative power in the 21st century. The mayor’s pledge to abolish the 50 per cent target closely mirrors the animosity to planning targets in the party’s new housing manifesto. And beyond City Hall, London is culturing the spores of a radical new Conservative housing politics. Last week Stephen Greenhalgh, the influential leader of Hammersmith & Fulham council, published a blueprint for sweeping deregulation of social housing.
Now, on the first anniversary of Mr Johnson’s election, Inside Housing meets three figures at the heart of London’s new Conservative housing experiment.
The mayor’s advisor
Richard Blakeway, director of housing at City Hall
It might not have happened as often as he’s had hot dinners, but Boris Johnson has been described as ‘inimitable’ more than most. Meet his chief housing advisor and you might begin to question the wisdom of that tag.
Many have commented on Richard Blakeway’s uncanny similarity to his boss. Both men present a near-caricature of the dishevelled public schoolboy: all well-fed vowels, unkempt manner and captain-of-the-debating-society enthusiasm for political argument.
Both are also willing to court controversy for the sake of a snappy line.
Earlier this year, while arguing that quality of life for social tenants is a ‘joke’, Mr Blakeway claimed ‘46 per cent of social tenants on estates love their dog more than their neighbour’. His speech prompted the late Defend Council Housing chair Alan Walter to call for him to be put on a lead.
The story of how 30-year-old Mr Blakeway became director of housing at City Hall offers a useful insight into the mayor’s relationship with David Cameron’s Conservatives. Before joining the mayor’s campaign, Mr Blakeway’s entire professional life had been in Westminster, working his way from researcher to policy wonk. When Mr Cameron became Tory party leader in 2005, Mr Blakeway was appointed to an 18-month review of international development policy, alongside Sir Bob Geldof and others, thinking up new ways to finance foreign aid.
By autumn 2007 the review was complete and he was anticipating a natural end to his political days. ‘It was the last day of party conference, and I was sat outside a café in the rain with [shadow housing minister] Grant Shapps, who I had known since he became an MP,’ he recalls. ‘Everyone expected an election to be called… I was thinking, I’ll probably leave politics and take up publishing.’
But the election never came, and Mr Johnson’s shot at the mayoralty was suddenly the biggest game in town. Mr Blakeway was parachuted in to help draft campaign manifestoes.
In at the deep end
With the election win came Mr Blakeway’s first chance at practical politics. He was brought into City Hall in a temporary ‘transition team’ given 100 days to kick-start the new mayoralty. When Mr Johnson asked him to stay on, the directorship Mr Blakeway wanted was housing. He was intrigued by the new powers and huge budget at the mayor’s disposal. ‘We had a real clean slate, accentuated by the market and by the fact that people were willing to look afresh at things,’ he says.
The appointment raised eyebrows in the sector. When he took the £81,000-a-year post, Mr Blakeway had no experience in housing. But he claims his greenness as a virtue, insisting people have been ‘refreshed’ by the new approach at City Hall. He describes this as a willingness to ‘show leadership in a very challenging market’, without being ‘weighed down by baggage’ built up ‘over decades of working in the sector’.
Ultimately that leadership will be judged on the success of his policies. And the mayor’s defining housing policy is the abolition of London’s 50 per cent target. The pair were so confident of accomplishing more through co-operative negotiation with boroughs, they matched Mr Livingstone’s commitment to deliver 50,000 affordable homes between 2008 and 2011. Since October, City Hall has been in closed-door negotiations to agree individual targets with the boroughs.
More than any other, this approach presents a microcosm of what a Conservative government’s housing policy might look like. In its recent housing green paper, the party promised to revoke the system of centrally imposed building targets, replacing them with ‘incentives to develop’.
So how is London’s localist experiment going? Mr Blakeway says the boroughs have so far been persuaded to agree to ‘more than 40,000’ new homes, a figure he claims is greater than Mr Livingstone could have delivered. In the current market, with few planning applications coming forward, a percentage target is not the right ‘lever’ to deliver affordable homes, he insists.
But the mayor wants negotiations concluded this spring. Can his office get the boroughs up to 50,000 by then? ‘People will be surprised how close we are to delivering an unprecedented number of affordable homes in London,’ Mr Blakeway replies.
Is that a yes or a no? ‘That’s my answer.’
The council leader

Stephen Greenhalgh gestures to a map of Hammersmith & Fulham he keeps hanging in his office. Four areas are marked in deep red, indicating their place among the nation’s top 10 per cent most deprived neighbourhoods. They are all, he says, areas where social housing predominates. ‘We need to challenge the needs-based system that underpins social housing,’ he says.
‘We are challenging the current orthodoxy about how social housing is allocated, because the social consequences are so bad, the economic consequences for the competitiveness of our inner cities are poor, and the financial returns are risible.’
Few people have done more to define what right wing Conservative housing policy looks like in the 21st century than Mr Greenhalgh, who has been leader of the council since 2006.
Until now, this has been manifested largely through his own borough’s policies. These include pushing for shared ownership or intermediate housing, in place of new social homes, on developments in the areas marked in red. The borough also uses what little discretion it has over social housing allocations to prioritise those willing to seek work.
To London’s Labour politicians, this approach falls somewhere between social engineering and outright gerrymandering. The council wants to drive down the proportion of social housing, opponents say, because it considers social tenants unlikely to vote Tory. The suggestion provokes scorn from Mr Greenhalgh. ‘This isn’t a political game. What we’re trying to do is achieve decent neighbourhoods. Attract a mixture of incomes in areas of concentrated deprivation. Look at the map – that’s where it is.’
Now the 41-year-old has turned his attention to national reform. Last week he launched a co-authored paper calling for radical deregulation of social housing, to empower councils to break down concentrations of poverty.
Principles for social housing reform advocates scrapping the needs-based allocation system, allowing local authorities to house ‘a higher proportion of economically active households’.
All social homes would be switched to a form of assured shorthold tenancy, modelled on the private sector. Councils and housing associations would be free to let, sell and redevelop their stock largely as they chose. And rents would rise to near-market levels, with government funds currently used to develop social housing shifted to increased housing benefit payments. Local authorities’ new freedoms would be matched by a duty to ‘fix broken neighbourhoods’.
‘If the vast majority of people are workless, or have lots of issues, it’s not a great place to get on in life,’ he continues.
‘We are arguing, as the government has argued, that it’s very important to think about mixed communities.’
But the solution he proposes would demand slaughtering social housing’s sacred cow – security of tenure. Local authorities would have a ‘duty to house’ only a small group of people deemed incapable of housing themselves, such as the severely disabled and the drug-addicted. For the majority, councils would have a duty to help them secure housing in the market. Does Mr Greenhalgh think any government could get away with this?
‘If you want my honest opinion – tenure will be the hardest battle to fight. That will be the hardest one to deal with, and is where the battle lines will be drawn over this issue.’
Does he think that this battle will happen if a Conservative government is elected into power? ‘It’s going to happen sometime, we just don’t know when.’
He argues that the time is right for the radical – and, to many, shocking – reforms he proposes. ‘I was struck by how many housing professionals are beginning to think about the shortcomings of the current system,’ he says.
‘They are not all agreed about what we should do, but their appetite for reform is palpable… The time is now to define the principles that will lead to reform of a system that no longer works.’
The cabinet member
Philippa Roe, Westminster Council
‘Not at all!’ exclaims Philippa Roe. ‘Not at all.’
In a meeting room on the 17th floor of Westminster City Hall, the councillor is energetically dismissing my suggestion she might have difficulty relating to social tenants. She is, after all, a Roe dean School alumnus, a former investment banker and a long-time resident of her ritzy Knightsbridge & Belgravia ward.
‘Everyone’s life goes through ups and downs, and my own has as well, and, you know, the older you get the more empathy you have. Of course I have immense sympathy for people and their problems… I think you’re stereotyping me.’
Ms Roe, 46, has only been in charge of the Westminster housing portfolio as long as Boris Johnson has been in charge at City Hall. She was elected in 2006 and awarded her cabinet post last May. But she is in no doubt that the major change Mr Johnson’s election has brought is the abolition of the 50 per cent target.
‘The biggest difference is his emphasis, not on delivering section 106s and the percentage of [affordable] houses on a development, but on targets for each authority, which gives us much more freedom in where we put them, and how we structure them,’ she says. Westminster is still negotiating its target.
It is an emphasis she hopes to see mirrored in the policies of a future Conservative government. Asked what voters might expect from such a government, on the basis of Mr Johnson’s example, she says: ‘I would like to think it is devolving more decision-making down to local councils in terms of what is right about social housing in their area, and allowing them to finance it themselves.’
Although new to her post, Ms Roe has a pedigree in Tory politics. The daughter of former Conservative MP Dame Marion Roe, she served on the high-level panel of private sector experts brought in by the last Tory government to set up the private finance initiative.
Now she is looking for ways to cement what she sees as the ‘core’ principle of PFI – that the rigours of a competitive market can drive up standards in the public sector – in the relationship Westminster has with its arm’s-length management organisation, Citywest Homes.
Last autumn, relations between the council and the ALMO’s senior management broke down. The chief executive and the finance director both resigned. Chair Kevin Bond was sacked a few weeks later, and he accused Westminster of trampling Citywest’s independence.
Ms Roe believes the ‘root of the problem’ is the way ALMO contracts are structured.
‘I think they were set up with a naive view that ALMOs were going to offer the best of both worlds, where you would still have local authority involvement, but you would have the incentivisation of the private sector.
‘In fact, it’s the worst of both worlds, because they have independence… but from the client perspective it is extremely difficult to terminate the relationship with them.’ This means, she says, councils do not have the ‘normal levers’ a customer has to push up service quality. As a result they become ‘too involved’ in managing their ALMOs’ if they perceive problems.
In response, she wants an arrangement that will make Citywest ‘more like a private sector provider of housing management services’. This would involve regular, possibly annual, opportunities to review the contract, and the ability to terminate and pass it to a housing association if service fell short.
‘There has to be a genuine market there so that there’s real competition, and people are genuinely trying to give you a) the best price, and b) the best service,’ she concludes. ‘And for them all constantly to feel that they’ve got to keep on their toes, otherwise we could terminate.’

Twelve months on from Boris Johnson’s election as London mayor Tory politicians are stamping their mark on the capital. Crispin Dowler meets the key players and discovers the national significance of their housing policies.
Boris Johnson’s election as London mayor – a year ago this week – marked a tidal shift in the political character of the capital. That day made Mr Johnson the first Conservative in the role and one of the most powerful Tories in the country. It also made him one of the most powerful figures in housing.
He inherited from his Labour predecessor, Ken Livingstone, sweeping new powers to decide major planning applications, and major influence over the city’s £5 billion housing budget.
For Conservative boroughs, this was a dramatic reversal of fortune. Mr Livingstone’s mayoralty had been marked by wars of attrition over housing between City Hall and Conservative councils like Hammersmith & Fulham. The former mayor thought Tory councils were reluctant to provide new social homes, and would not do so without pressure. The boroughs countered that his centrepiece policy – that half of all new homes should be affordable – impeded development.
But the significance extends beyond London. A post-Budget YouGov/Daily Telegraph poll put the Conservatives 18 points ahead of Labour. With the prospect of a Tory government looming large, the symbolic importance of a Conservative-controlled capital is not lost on the national party.
For anyone keen to know what the next government’s housing policy might be, London has become the Petri dish to examine Conservative power in the 21st century. The mayor’s pledge to abolish the 50 per cent target closely mirrors the animosity to planning targets in the party’s new housing manifesto. And beyond City Hall, London is culturing the spores of a radical new Conservative housing politics. Last week Stephen Greenhalgh, the influential leader of Hammersmith & Fulham council, published a blueprint for sweeping deregulation of social housing.
Now, on the first anniversary of Mr Johnson’s election, Inside Housing meets three figures at the heart of London’s new Conservative housing experiment.
The mayor’s advisor

It might not have happened as often as he’s had hot dinners, but Boris Johnson has been described as ‘inimitable’ more than most. Meet his chief housing advisor and you might begin to question the wisdom of that tag.
Many have commented on Richard Blakeway’s uncanny similarity to his boss. Both men present a near-caricature of the dishevelled public schoolboy: all well-fed vowels, unkempt manner and captain-of-the-debating-society enthusiasm for political argument.
Both are also willing to court controversy for the sake of a snappy line.
Earlier this year, while arguing that quality of life for social tenants is a ‘joke’, Mr Blakeway claimed ‘46 per cent of social tenants on estates love their dog more than their neighbour’. His speech prompted the late Defend Council Housing chair Alan Walter to call for him to be put on a lead.
The story of how 30-year-old Mr Blakeway became director of housing at City Hall offers a useful insight into the mayor’s relationship with David Cameron’s Conservatives. Before joining the mayor’s campaign, Mr Blakeway’s entire professional life had been in Westminster, working his way from researcher to policy wonk. When Mr Cameron became Tory party leader in 2005, Mr Blakeway was appointed to an 18-month review of international development policy, alongside Sir Bob Geldof and others, thinking up new ways to finance foreign aid.
By autumn 2007 the review was complete and he was anticipating a natural end to his political days. ‘It was the last day of party conference, and I was sat outside a café in the rain with [shadow housing minister] Grant Shapps, who I had known since he became an MP,’ he recalls. ‘Everyone expected an election to be called… I was thinking, I’ll probably leave politics and take up publishing.’
But the election never came, and Mr Johnson’s shot at the mayoralty was suddenly the biggest game in town. Mr Blakeway was parachuted in to help draft campaign manifestoes.
In at the deep end
With the election win came Mr Blakeway’s first chance at practical politics. He was brought into City Hall in a temporary ‘transition team’ given 100 days to kick-start the new mayoralty. When Mr Johnson asked him to stay on, the directorship Mr Blakeway wanted was housing. He was intrigued by the new powers and huge budget at the mayor’s disposal. ‘We had a real clean slate, accentuated by the market and by the fact that people were willing to look afresh at things,’ he says.
The appointment raised eyebrows in the sector. When he took the £81,000-a-year post, Mr Blakeway had no experience in housing. But he claims his greenness as a virtue, insisting people have been ‘refreshed’ by the new approach at City Hall. He describes this as a willingness to ‘show leadership in a very challenging market’, without being ‘weighed down by baggage’ built up ‘over decades of working in the sector’.
Ultimately that leadership will be judged on the success of his policies. And the mayor’s defining housing policy is the abolition of London’s 50 per cent target. The pair were so confident of accomplishing more through co-operative negotiation with boroughs, they matched Mr Livingstone’s commitment to deliver 50,000 affordable homes between 2008 and 2011. Since October, City Hall has been in closed-door negotiations to agree individual targets with the boroughs.
More than any other, this approach presents a microcosm of what a Conservative government’s housing policy might look like. In its recent housing green paper, the party promised to revoke the system of centrally imposed building targets, replacing them with ‘incentives to develop’.
So how is London’s localist experiment going? Mr Blakeway says the boroughs have so far been persuaded to agree to ‘more than 40,000’ new homes, a figure he claims is greater than Mr Livingstone could have delivered. In the current market, with few planning applications coming forward, a percentage target is not the right ‘lever’ to deliver affordable homes, he insists.
But the mayor wants negotiations concluded this spring. Can his office get the boroughs up to 50,000 by then? ‘People will be surprised how close we are to delivering an unprecedented number of affordable homes in London,’ Mr Blakeway replies.
Is that a yes or a no? ‘That’s my answer.’
The council leader

Stephen Greenhalgh gestures to a map of Hammersmith & Fulham he keeps hanging in his office. They are all, he says, areas where social housing predominates. ‘We need to challenge the needs-based system that underpins social housing,’ he says.
‘We are challenging the current orthodoxy about how social housing is allocated, because the social consequences are so bad, the economic consequences for the competitiveness of our inner cities are poor, and the financial returns are risible.’
Few people have done more to define what right wing Conservative housing policy looks like in the 21st century than Mr Greenhalgh, who has been leader of the council since 2006.
Until now, this has been manifested largely through his own borough’s policies. These include pushing for shared ownership or intermediate housing, in place of new social homes, on developments in the areas marked in red. The borough also uses what little discretion it has over social housing allocations to prioritise those willing to seek work.
To London’s Labour politicians, this approach falls somewhere between social engineering and outright gerrymandering. The council wants to drive down the proportion of social housing, opponents say, because it considers social tenants unlikely to vote Tory. The suggestion provokes scorn from Mr Greenhalgh. ‘This isn’t a political game. What we’re trying to do is achieve decent neighbourhoods. Attract a mixture of incomes in areas of concentrated deprivation. Look at the map – that’s where it is.’
Now the 41-year-old has turned his attention to national reform. Last week he launched a co-authored paper calling for radical deregulation of social housing, to empower councils to break down concentrations of poverty.
Principles for social housing reform advocates scrapping the needs-based allocation system, allowing local authorities to house ‘a higher proportion of economically active households’.
All social homes would be switched to a form of assured shorthold tenancy, modelled on the private sector. Councils and housing associations would be free to let, sell and redevelop their stock largely as they chose. And rents would rise to near-market levels, with government funds currently used to develop social housing shifted to increased housing benefit payments. Local authorities’ new freedoms would be matched by a duty to ‘fix broken neighbourhoods’.
‘If the vast majority of people are workless, or have lots of issues, it’s not a great place to get on in life,’ he continues.
‘We are arguing, as the government has argued, that it’s very important to think about mixed communities.’
But the solution he proposes would demand slaughtering social housing’s sacred cow – security of tenure. Local authorities would have a ‘duty to house’ only a small group of people deemed incapable of housing themselves, such as the severely disabled and the drug-addicted. For the majority, councils would have a duty to help them secure housing in the market. Does Mr Greenhalgh think any government could get away with this?
‘If you want my honest opinion – tenure will be the hardest battle to fight. That will be the hardest one to deal with, and is where the battle lines will be drawn over this issue.’
Does he think that this battle will happen if a Conservative government is elected into power? ‘It’s going to happen sometime, we just don’t know when.’
He argues that the time is right for the radical – and, to many, shocking – reforms he proposes. ‘I was struck by how many housing professionals are beginning to think about the shortcomings of the current system,’ he says.
‘They are not all agreed about what we should do, but their appetite for reform is palpable… The time is now to define the principles that will lead to reform of a system that no longer works.’
The cabinet member
Philippa Roe, Westminster Council
‘Not at all!’ exclaims Philippa Roe. ‘Not at all.’
In a meeting room on the 17th floor of Westminster City Hall, the councillor is energetically dismissing my suggestion she might have difficulty relating to social tenants. She is, after all, a Roe dean School alumnus, a former investment banker and a long-time resident of her ritzy Knightsbridge & Belgravia ward.
‘Everyone’s life goes through ups and downs, and my own has as well, and, you know, the older you get the more empathy you have. Of course I have immense sympathy for people and their problems… I think you’re stereotyping me.’
Ms Roe, 46, has only been in charge of the Westminster housing portfolio as long as Boris Johnson has been in charge at City Hall. She was elected in 2006 and awarded her cabinet post last May. But she is in no doubt that the major change Mr Johnson’s election has brought is the abolition of the 50 per cent target.
‘The biggest difference is his emphasis, not on delivering section 106s and the percentage of [affordable] houses on a development, but on targets for each authority, which gives us much more freedom in where we put them, and how we structure them,’ she says. Westminster is still negotiating its target.
It is an emphasis she hopes to see mirrored in the policies of a future Conservative government. Asked what voters might expect from such a government, on the basis of Mr Johnson’s example, she says: ‘I would like to think it is devolving more decision-making down to local councils in terms of what is right about social housing in their area, and allowing them to finance it themselves.’
Although new to her post, Ms Roe has a pedigree in Tory politics. The daughter of former Conservative MP Dame Marion Roe, she served on the high-level panel of private sector experts brought in by the last Tory government to set up the private finance initiative.
Now she is looking for ways to cement what she sees as the ‘core’ principle of PFI – that the rigours of a competitive market can drive up standards in the public sector – in the relationship Westminster has with its arm’s-length management organisation, Citywest Homes.
Last autumn, relations between the council and the ALMO’s senior management broke down. The chief executive and the finance director both resigned. Chair Kevin Bond was sacked a few weeks later, and he accused Westminster of trampling Citywest’s independence.
Ms Roe believes the ‘root of the problem’ is the way ALMO contracts are structured.
‘I think they were set up with a naive view that ALMOs were going to offer the best of both worlds, where you would still have local authority involvement, but you would have the incentivisation of the private sector.
‘In fact, it’s the worst of both worlds, because they have independence… but from the client perspective it is extremely difficult to terminate the relationship with them.’ This means, she says, councils do not have the ‘normal levers’ a customer has to push up service quality. As a result they become ‘too involved’ in managing their ALMOs’ if they perceive problems.
In response, she wants an arrangement that will make Citywest ‘more like a private sector provider of housing management services’. This would involve regular, possibly annual, opportunities to review the contract, and the ability to terminate and pass it to a housing association if service fell short.
‘There has to be a genuine market there so that there’s real competition, and people are genuinely trying to give you a) the best price, and b) the best service,’ she concludes. ‘And for them all constantly to feel that they’ve got to keep on their toes, otherwise we could terminate.’

People are not feeling safe about visiting Bangladesh. As one person in London said to me only last night, there is serious insecurity that rules huge parts of the country.

the east end of london’s very own community charter to beat the condem cuts agenda is being published here next. as i finalise the contents, here is a contextual preview of what it is about: it is a charter updating the agenda for the community that comes closest to the values that the democratic group of councillors fought for almost a hundred years ago. i here refer once again to george lansbury and his colleagues who fought against the core agenda at the conservative assault on local democracy. i have already reported here and on the fast developing aadhikaronline video news and reporting web site via youtube, the outrageous absence of a serious mobilisation against cuts in tower hamlets. i have published only snapshots of the scenes outside the mulberry place [the ‘town hall’] as i photographed on 8 March 2011. the scene was a stockade. the only clear images that could be spotted at the ‘entrance’ to the mulberry place on that evening were those of the metropolitan police personnel. that was not a scene to be proud of in any democratic context at all. police officers should be seen in proportion and on the sidelines. they were the only people that could be seen for hours! which means that the people, the public, had gone! where had they gone? what had happened? what was so unacceptable about ordinary people being around the mulberry place to register a resounding no to the agenda of cuts? the first part of the answer to this question is that on that evening, democracy had been reported from tower hamlets. from tower hamlets council. and those who took part in that deportation of democracy were the “elected” councillors. as i pointed out on the evening, that was a betrayal of all the basic duties owed to the community by the “elected” ones. their betrayal has meant that they had flouted the democratic mandate. they had also forfeited their claim to being democratically installed any longer. so where is the ‘democratic opposition’ to that then? where are the “true democratic campaigners from all the true genuine democratic groups, parties and movement” that surface on suitable occasions claim that they mobilised the people in and of the east end? These mysterious elements surface when the very ordinary people are spontaneously gathered, assembled by certain tangible treats to the very existence of the people, Such as happened in June last year with the threat of a racist onslaught. Then the many ‘left’ grouplets materialised and made all manner of claims about THEIR achievements and their leadership! So where were THEY on 8 March 2011? Where have they been the past ten months that the CONDEM has been refining the assaults on the East End of London? Do ‘the left’ even know what the CONDEM operatives look and talk like “in the community”? The truth of the matter is that “the Left” is not there. It does not exist. It has not done so in Britain for decades. What the BBC “helpfully” does is to maintains a parade of updated images disguised as “the left”. The “mass day of demonstration against the cuts” planned for the last week of March 2011 is a typical “left” stunt! It could not be more Right! Just like the overly-hyped “Stop the War” banality lasting for the entirety of the Blair-Bush-Obama fronted Military Industrial Complex occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and other parts of the resourced and naturally endowed world, the rest of “the left” is embarrassingly transparently [a tellingly ironic place for transparency in this context] active in diverting the people from democratic mobilisation against the corrupt agenda that is operated at home and morality-dressed abroad where occupation, looting and robbery are done in the nam,e of “vah-loos” that Gordon Brown had faintly uttered and those that William Hague has been exposed as being too incompetent even to coherently display without being caught up in his own serial errors and ‘events’!!!. William Hague NEVER deserved to be propelled to the “place” that he got propelled to in the first place. From the moment he was given that platform via the BBC and other Right media in Britain as the teenager that best personified “the Thatcherite future”, it was quite obviously that there was no real future for a democratic just and sustainable society ion Brian with any agenda that William Hague could be associated with. THAT he has been tolerated, nay even feted for over 30 years shows the real ignorance and bankruptcy of the “British establishment”. And the fact that “the left” has allowed that to go on for 30 years has once again vindicated my analysis of “the left”: that it does not exist. What is paraded as various “groups, factions and sub factions of the British Left” holding up banners and handing out leaflets at entrances to various bogus ‘campaigning events’ fronted and staged by the “British Trade unions, the TUC and by the fronter Labour Party bureaucrats” are fakes.
