I reported on Thursday on Crossrail’s Programme Director Andy Mitchell giving an undertaking to address the demand for step-free access at all Crossrail stations. Mitchell was speaking at Canary Wharf as he received the signed demand for the step free access at stations. KHOODEELAAR! signed the demands in Bangladeshi and in English.

As I filmed Mitchell speak, I noticed that he was coming across as causal, down to earth, not at all showing off, if I read his physical gestures and body language right.

Now why am I saying this?

Because Crossrail company has been, in its heavy duty, power-photo opportunities, as shown with Tony Bliar, Ken Livingstone and Gordon Brown and Ruth Kelly, very physically oppressive-looking.

And in the years since the trade unionists began to demand an and to blacklisting by Crossrail contractors, the Crossrail company has been reluctant to show humility.

So I noticed a contrast in the way that Andy Mitchell cam,e across at the end of our rally on Thursday. And I sincerely hope that he keeps that outlook up and does not relapse into the offensive Crossrail posture. Physically and in policy terms.

The KHOODEELAAR! Campaign Defending the Community in the East End of London.

Unite the Community for a positive future!

This is the call that the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign is giving out this weekend.

The call is being reiterated in the light of the mess that Tower Hamlets Council has created by closing Brick Lane to traffic. The ‘local Tower Hamlets’ Council says that the closure is experimental. But one of the immediate consequences has been ugly exchanges of abuse between supporters of the closure and those who argue against it. This ugly situation has been created by Tower Hamlets Council’s failure to follow rational, logical and responsible course of action:

Consult the Community first and fully!

If the Council now does listen to the reasonable view that it should conduct full and thorough consultations with all the people that constitute the Brick Lane London E1 area then a better programme of action can begin to be taken to safeguard the businesses and to make things hopefully better for all concerned.

1. Those who live in the area.

2. Those who have businesses, including curry restaurants, in Brick Lane and in nearby streets that depend on moving traffic for the important customer and trade access.

3. And those who visit Brick Lane for a variety of reasons, Including the people who need free and unobstructed access to the places of faith and worship, as represented by the Brick Lane Jamme’ Mosque [To be continued]

This accusation has been one of the strongest features of the negative image that the Brick Lane curry restaurant has acquired in the past decade and is damaging the future of the street. [To be continued]

This youtube post [accessible via the webpage link cited below] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7nLhExk-x0&feature=youtu.be is dated today Friday 16 August 2013 and it contains the Question as to what role the elected post-holders are playing to address and comprehensively tackle the 'Bangladeshi-on-Bangladeshi'violence that has just been witnessed in the tragic loss of the school boy Ajmol Alom's life in Poplar in the inner city, 'one of the most deprived' boroughs, Tower Hamlets. Also featured is a short plea, from a young member of the community who grew up in Whitechapel about the purity of the Legacy of the struggle for universal dignity and human tolerance and against racism. The key point of concern to Sufi Miah, is linked to the appearance of a canine statue in the Altab Ali Park. The final piece in this AADHIKAROnline report by © Muhammad Haque is about the latest set of views from local residents and businesses worried and concerned at the lack of consultation by Tower Hamlets Council with the affected community over the Council's plan to shut traffic through Brick Lane [albeit on an allegedly experimental basis]. “Public Question at Cabinet Question from Mr Muhammad Haque

Being published by AADHIKAROnline in association with the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign at 1205 Hrs GMT London Saturday 03 August 2013. Tower Hamlets Council’s Cabinet Meeting Wednesday 03 July 2013
“Public Question at Cabinet Question from Mr Haque
There are concerns from residents and businesses at the Council’s proposals to close Brick Lane to traffic. Can the Council confirm what is planned and why? Answer to the question from Stephen Halsey (Head of Paid Service and Corporate Director, Communities, Localities and Culture) The only plans for traffic in Brick Lane are some sort short experimental road closures involving the part-time creation of a traffic-free environment in the street on 4 saturday afternoons/evenings in August. These are being discussed with the Police in the light of responses received to preliminary consultation. Various suggestions have been put forward over many years for a variety of pedestrianisation proposals and we are acutely aware of the sensitivity of this issue. The impact of these tests will allow us to assess the benefit and disadvantages of developing the concept as part of future plans for the improvement of the area which would need to involve extensive public consultation.” HERE, below, is the exact quotation of the document that Mr Stephen Halsey, Tower Hamlets Council’s “chief executive”, also known as the “Head of Paid Service” held up as he spoke at some length in answer to the Question put to the Cabinet of the LBTH Council by Mr Muhammad Haque, the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign Organiser at the Meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 31 July 2013. That Meeting of the Cabinet was Chaired by the Council’s Executive Mayor Lutfur Rahman. Although the Council had known that Mr Muhammad Haque had been in extensive communications over the pervious 24 hours on the matter and they [“the Council”] accordingly prepared the document and arranged for Mr Halsey’s to state the Council’s “answer”, they had not made the document available ahead of Mr Muhammad haque’s actual presentation of the Question to the Cabinet. Mr Haque made the presentation without notes and he only saw a copy of Mr Halsey’s answer as he [Mr Hasley] was already speaking. The text of “the Question” as shown in the document below, was a version as edited from Mr Muhammad Haque’s several communications by email. The details of Mr Muhammad Haque’s actual Question as he put it to the Tower Hamlets Council’s Cabinet Meeting on 31 July 213, has already been published in a numbered summary in the previous youtube post by AADHIKAROnline publishing with the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign defending the Community in the East End of London. “Public Question at Cabinet Question from Mr Haque There are concerns from residents and businesses at the Council’s proposals to close Brick Lane to traffic.
