Brick Lane Community Business Forum [BCBF] has issued the following statement this evening.


“We are concerned to learn that Tower Hamlets Council has tampered with CCTV footage of an incident last week in which a number of Curry restaurants had been attacked by person or persons that were not either customers or staff. We are also concerned to earn that the Police are aware of this and that the CCTV footage that some f the curry restaurant staff and business mangers have been shown by the Police were different fro the footage that Tower Hamlets Council has produced,. We are confirming that if this information is proven to be true then we shall support all lawful actions to make sure that the Tower Hamlets Council is legally made to publish the full CCTV footage, to apologise to the people who had been acted on as based on that tampering and to pay any appropriate damages and costs to them. We also confirm that we shall support the lawful activities of the curry restaurants and any other businesses that may be experiencing violence and attacks on their trade. We support the local community in every lawful respect.”
