Fair fares for Overseas Bangladeshis Campaign launched in Brick Lane London UK. Urgent call to Sheikh Hasina to stop the foolish rise in the Biman fares.

UK, the Gulf States and parts of North Africa, typified in the current impasse in Libya where thousands of Bangladeshis remain stranded and desperate, have been 'homes' for the largest numbers of Bangladeshis seeking to improve their economic conditions. It is thus ironic that they are being made to fork out ever increasing sums by the Bangladesh state owned airline BIMAN. The irony is more painful as the Biman is treated as a national symbol of pride and thus protected with zeal by the overseas Bangladeshis travelling home to loved ones after years of arduous stays abroad.

Economically, the rise in fares by Biman has already resulted in the carrier losing serious business shares to rival operators. Industry insiders have confirmed that if Biman fares rise is not reversed immediately, the company may sink without trace as the thousands of Bangladeshis reject the BIMAN craft with their cash and opt to travel at bearable fares on rival lines.

FULL TEXT of the letter to Sheikh Hasina Wazed by the FAIR FARES FOR OVERSEAS BANGLADESHIS Campaign today [Monday 07 March 2011] to be published EXCLUSIVELY here, NEXT.
