For four years! That rampant lack of democratic accountability in every part of Tower Hamlets Council was bound to warrant ridicule, condemnation and worse. 

The sight of Eric Pickles being paraded as a saviour of standards for the people of Tower Hamlets should be enough to rush for the sick bag. 

But things are getting even nastier. For those who have wilfully colluded with the corrupt controlling clique in Tower Hamlets for years are now braying for ethics, morality and standards. Ugh! 

The Movement Defending the Community in the East End of London will be watching the elements who seek to use the BBC Panorama programme as a vicarious vehicle to vent their own cravings as well as their own shortcomings.

We have said for years that an “elected executive mayor” “system” itself was, is and will continue to be deeply and dangerously undemocratic. 

So why have the “pro-accountability” elements disclosed and peddled by the BBC change their stance of "NO to elected mayor in Tower Hamlets”, seek ‘election to become mayor” themselves and tell lies and rush to join the corrupting antidemocratic careerists’ route in 2010 when the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign stuck to the principles and said NO?

The BBC London NEWS report this evening (Monday 24 March 2014) featured here about high health risks in Tower Hamlets (and Hackney) is unlikely to be found in the local Council’s propaganda “newspaper” the Tower Hamlets ‘Pravda’. I called it the East End Lies more than a decade ago, in 2000 in fact.

The East End Lies is lying unconvincingly in its current front page which it abuses to make a plasticky ingratiation to the image of Angela Lansbury, the grand daughter of George Lansbury (who went on to become the Leader of the Labour Party and) one of the Poplar Councillors of 90 years or so ago who defied the Tories and went to jail to uphold the rights of their community.

The former Conservative cabinet minister Lord Tebbit has suggested that people who visit food banks are at the same time spending their money on junk food.

Speaking in the House of Lords, Tebbit said there was a "near infinite demand" for valuable goods given away free and asked ministers to "initiate research into junk food sales in areas where people are [relying] for basic food on the food banks".

He made the comments moments after a Tory environment minister, Lord de Mauley, drew gasps from the chamber by saying food banks are not a scandal but a sign of Britain's charity and ministers should not seek to "interfere" in their use.

During the debate on food banks, several Labour, Liberal Democrat and crossbench independent peers condemned the rise in their usage. Statistics from the Trussell Trust, which oversees more than 400 UK food banks , show 614,000 adults and children received help from its food banks in the first nine months of 2013-14, compared with 350,000 for all of 2012-13.

Asked whether he agreed that the need for food banks was a scandal, De Mauley, a hereditary peer and former banker who went to Eton, said: "Britain has a great tradition of charitable giving, and it would be a bad day on which we started to interfere with that."

Pressed on whether he really meant that, the minister said: "I think I have just answered that, my Lords. Britain has a great tradition of charitable giving, and it would be a great mistake to interfere with that." He did, however, decline to commission the research into junk food requested by Tebbit, saying that there has been a decrease in the number of households reporting that they felt unable to afford food compared with 2007.

Earlier, Tebbit called for David Cameron to be replaced as Tory leader by the next election. In a speech to the Bow Group, he said: "It's not about whether we go left or right but whether we will be a top-down, narrowly focused party run by an elite, or a bottom-up party run by like-minded, anti-statist minded people.

"I hope that change can be brought about and that before the general election we can feel like Conservatives again and feel like the prime minister is a son of Thatcher and not a son of Tony Blair."

Tebbit, who is famous for suggesting in 1981 that the unemployed should get on their bikes to find work, also warned the bedroom tax could lose the party the next election.

"I think we introduced that rather without thinking it through very well, and I think that's costing us," he said.

HS2 isn’t quite in the East End of London.  

Yet the Khoodeelaar! Campaign Defending the East End of London Against Big Biz Agenda IS actively engaged in opposing HS2.  

Why?  

For a start, the values that Big Biz represents, typifies, symbolises are hostile to and in violation of the rights, the needs and the say of the affected local communities.

That is only  a start.  

There are many details that I shall be UPDATING here and on related posts in due course.  

For now, a piece of third party publication and comment is being cited here as part of the evidential base of the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign.

As Maguire showed in his ritualistic ‘taunting’ performed at the expense of the London Daily Mail’s Andrew Pierce in  this clip that I have attached to this COMMENTARY from SKY NEWS (hosted by Anna Botting, Monday 17 March 2014).  

I am OPPOSED to most of Pierce’s “politics” but I also recognise that even Pierce can see that Shire County Neo Cons are opposed to HS2, albeit for their own “reasons”!

Whatever their motive, they are SAYING NO2HS2.  

I recognise that “opposition’, regardless of their location in ” opportunistic motives”.

After the Guardian reported Margaret Hodge MP as saying that the UK Department for Want and Poverty Creation was on the verge of meltdown, (The DAILY MAIL reports) a "job centre" protest by one victim of the DWP as nakedly proving the analysis true! 

Woman strips to her underwear in the middle of a Jobcentre as part of bizarre protest over benefits (but is it just the latest Neknominate dare to end up online?)

She begins by walking into the Jobcentre in Stockton, Teesside and begins stripping off for the camera

A video has emerged showing the moment a woman stripped to her underwear in a Jobcentre in an apparent Neknominate challenge, which she attempted to pass off as an act of protest.

The young woman walked into a branch of the Jobcentre in Teesside in Stockton wearing a long coat.

In the film she can be seen removing her coat to reveal that she is wearing only a black bra, pants, stockings, suspenders and trainers.

She is also wearing a pair of gold hooped earrings.

The film footage, posted on Facebook, shows her disrobing and claiming she is protesting against sanctions to her jobseeker's allowance.

She is very quickly thrown out of the job centre by a security officer, who can be heard telling her to 'grow up' as she is thrown out, just before her coat is thrown out as well.

She can then be seen outside drinking from a can and nominating someone else to do the challenge.

Right after, she is told to move away from the job centre or face being arrested.

It is believed she carried out the clothes-off protest as part of the new drinking game that has swept the internet.

NekNomination involves friends nominating each other to do challenges and finishing it by downing a drink, usually something alcoholic, before posting their exploits on the internet.

Recent cases locally have included a teenager who sparked a sea rescue launch after posting that he was planning to jump from Saltburn Pier as part of the game and a woman who rode a horse into a Tesco store in Bishop Auckland.

The most disturbing case was when a boy of just 10 downed a sickening mixture of Nando's sauce, cream, mayonnaise and vodka as part of the deadly Neknominate online drinking game craze sweeping the world, it emerged today.

The primary school-age youngster from Calderdale, West Yorkshire, was reportedly filmed by friends guzzling the nauseating cocktail after he was dared to take part.

This prompted council chiefs to Twitter and Facebook they should publish prominent warnings of the dangers of the social media trend, which claimed three lives in the UK.

Headmasters across the country have also been reading out warnings in assembly and displaying them on noticeboards in an effort to discourage children from taking part.

The report on the Daily Express web site, which the Khoodeelaar! Campaign accessed in the early hours of today Saturday 08 March 2014, has more than 30 comments on it at this time.

Most of those are clearly about "Muslims".

The KHOODEELAAR! Campaign has been describing Tower Hamlets Council as in the grip of a controlling corrupt clique.

We hold that clique responsible for the latest exhibition which most people would find unacceptable. 

To put it very mildly.

Reading the Daily Express online report and the comments posted so far, we can go further and assert:

Unless those whose behaviour has been depicted in this Daily Express report

seriously change their approach and their attitude then they WILL be held responsible for causing a serious worsening in the atmosphere in the Community among people based on “faith, ethnicity” and so on.

Several participants feature in the Daily Express report. 

Those individuals should recognise that they are councillors 

because they were elected to serve the Community.

What is coming across is that there is inflammation, incitement and 

hostility among councillors.

This is the opposite of what an elected Council should be.

The KHOODEELAAR! Campaign is aware of more than one published claim - so far published by PRIVATE EYE magazine (dated 7 March 2014, issue 1361)  at page 14 in the ROTTEN BOROUGHS Column where it covers quite a few aspects of the same Council Meeting which the Daily Express is reporting on.

One of the points Private Eye makes is that the BBC’s Panorama programme is due to report on Tower Hamlets.

The indications so far are that it will add to and accentuate the picture of Tower Hamlets Council is polarising fast along ‘faith’ ethnicity, racial...” lines.

That cannot be doing the Community any good at all.

So we are demanding that Tower Hamlets Council  stop abusing their positions in the ways already seen and that they should start addressing the many pressing needs of the Community which they have been failing to address or serve.

If hey continue to fail to pay heed to this then quite disproportionate escalation in hostilities will take place and Tower Hamlets Borough will be turned into the focus for all the wrong reasons.  

That will let the Community down even more badly than has happened so far.

FURY: Cllr Anwar Khan accused his white Labour colleagues of halting the ambitions of Bengalis [TOWER HAMLETS]

A Labour Bangladeshi councillor even claimed his own party was ruled by a “white elite” and he is alleged to have called one white colleague a “racist piece of s**”.

The footage was captured by Tower Hamlets Council’s own cameras in east London, which were installed in the debating after a general edict to local government bosses from Communities Secretary Eric Pickles last year.

Mr Pickles had wanted taxpayers to see how their elected representatives, who are paid between £10,000 and £65,000 a year, behaved during town hall debates.

His department had specifically highlighted previous antics of Tower Hamlets, which is ridden with race politics. 

The film was taken at the meeting of the full council to discuss a £1.2billion budget last week.

The notorious borough, which is one of Britain’s most deprived, is run by a directly elected mayor, Lutfur Rahman.

He is an independent who was expelled from Labour during an acrimonious election campaign in 2010.

Since then he has created a cabinet comprised entirely of councillors from a Bangladeshi background after failing to attract white members to defect from Labour.

The split has caused a poisonous atmosphere between the political groups.

During the meeting on Wednesday last week, Labour councillor Anwar Khan is invited to address the chamber by Speaker Lesley Pavitt.

As he makes some remarks about the budget, he cites the name of party colleague, Ann Jackson.

He refers to an email she sent before the Olympics criticising the Mayor’s attempt to make the borough’s famous Brick Lane a “Curry Capital” for 2012 tourists.

In that email, she had implored the mayor to be more adventurous and make the borough known for more than just good curry.

However, Cllr Khan in the video footage he says: "Despite the current chair of the Labour group Councillor Jackson dismissing the people of Tower Hamlets as nothing more than curry people in her email in 2010.

“In her email in 2010 when she dismisses the people of Tower Hamlets as nothing more than curry.” 

Outraged, Cllr Jackson, who was wearing a black cardigan because she was in private mourning for her ex-husband, rises to her feet.

She dismisses his version of events as “laughable” and explains the “proper context” of her words.

But this was not enough for Councillor Alibor Choudhury who sits in the mayor’s cabinet and is in charge of the £1.2billion budget.

It is after his words that the meeting erupts.

Unaware that Cllr Jackson is in mourning, he says: "Cllr Jackson back then did say those derogatory things, and let me say one thing to you.”

He then points to her and to her boss John Biggs, a London Assembly member, and says: “Oswald Mosely had the black shirts in the Thirties. 

“John Biggs has the black cardigans."

The speaker, Cllr Pavitt is visibly furious and says: "Cllr Choudhury, that was more than offensive.”

She then tries to have him evicted, only to be told that all she can do is issue a warning.

In the background, other councillors start chanting “Out, out, out.”

A few minutes later, Cllr Anwar Khan, who today quit the local party, is again the centre of attention. He mocks the appearance of Labour’s group leader, Cllr Sirajul Islam, labelling him “Danny de Vito”.

Seconds later and off-camera, another Labour councillor sitting next to him, Joshua Peck, switches off Cllr Khan’s microphone. At that point, Cllr Khan sees red and with increasing volume, yells: “Councillor, why did you turn it off?

This prompts more uproar in the chamber as the Speaker appeals for calm.

Cllr Peck then says: "Madam speaker, it was perhaps inadvisable for me to switch the microphone off because you were standing when Cllr Khan was speaking.

“But the comment he made, heard by a number of councillors around me that I was a 'racist piece of s***' is unacceptable from one councillor to another."

Explaining himself, Cllr Khan then says: “I think it is unacceptable that a member, my fellow ward colleague for four years, comes rushing without full context to turn my microphone off. 

“It goes to the heart of the point I've been raising over the last four weeks, that the Labour administration - the white elite - do not want talented Bengalis to speak."

This prompts more shouting, jeering and cheering and another independent councillor, Rania Khan says: "He feels that the Labour Party hinders Bengalis from speaking out; which I second and I agree with."

Until Cllr Anwar Khan’s resignation today, the Tower Hamlets Labour group comprised 13 Bangladeshi councillors, one Somali and 13 white members.

Thirty of the 52 elected representatives in Tower Hamlets are Bangladeshi.

Cllr Anwar Khan today denied calling Cllr Peck a “racist piece of s***”.

Today, Cllr Choudhury said he had been "mortified to learn" Ann Jackson was in mourning and that his remarks had been "ill-advised".

Serious dysfunction exposed in Tower Hamlets Council. 

The reported remarks by Alibor Choudhury must be seen in the context of the whole of the L B Tower Hamlets Council as being on a plane that is far removed from the ordinary population in the “deprived” inner city, East End of London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Shocking" is not the word

It is a festering crisis that looks set to get worse, because there is no visible genuinely democratic movement on the part of the paid Opposition councillors on the ramshackle, wasteful Council.

The controlling clique in Tower Hamlets Council is above the law, because the paid Opposition is lazy, opportunistic and lacks basic rigour and commitment.

This is why Alibor Choudhury was able to think that his "Black Shirt, Black Cardigan" remark was justified. 

Paid Opposition councillors have in the past used derogatory words against their supposed rivals who sit as Lutfur Rahman’s supporters.

As the KHOODEELAAR! Campaign has been pointing out, there is no really democratic Tower Hamlets Council.

What exists is a sham and the paid Opposition councillors (with the lone exception of the Tory Peter Golds) are as much to blame as the “executive mayor” side. 

Their “highest” point is reached when they abuse each other. 

There is no real debate about the day to day corruption and lying that go on under covers of “Council services”.

A university lecturer turned "gangster's moll" has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for assisting her boyfriend and two others in their bid to escape after they "executed" a rival to their drugs gang.

Rachel Kenehan, who taught sociology and psychology at the London Metropolitan University, suffered a "spectacular fall from grace" after she became "infatuated" with Pierre Lewis who she met while carrying out charitable mentoring work for young offenders.

Kenehan, of Hewlett Road, London, E3, was found guilty at Winchester Crown Court of assisting offenders, conspiracy to supply class A drugs and perverting the course of public justice.

Lewis, who turns 21 on Sunday, of Castlenau, Barnes, London, SW13, Jemmikai Orlebar-Forbes, 20, of Cloudesdale Road, London, SW17, and Isaac Boateng, 22, of Mill Farm Crescent, Hounslow, TW4, were found guilty of the murder of 23-year-old drug dealer Jahmel Jones, from Brixton, who was killed in Southampton, Hampshire.

They already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs.

Lewis was jailed for a minimum of 29 years, Orlebar-Forbes for 31 years and Boateng for 30 years.

Sentencing Kenehan, Mr Justice Keith told the 35-year-old, who he described as being infatuated by Lewis: "If one was looking for stereotypes, you would be the gangster's moll.

"But that would be too facile a description of you. You are a woman of many talents, hugely gifted with intellect, ambition and drive, with qualities of generosity and kindness which have so impressed the many people who spoke so highly of you in the course of the trial.

"The fact is that had you not met Lewis, you would not be where you are now. Whether you will be able to pursue your career in the future is now highly questionable.

"That is the real punishment for you, and although you must, of course, go to prison, you would, I think, have been punished twice over if I did not significantly reduce the sentences I would otherwise have passed to reflect your spectacular fall from grace, and the indignity of being at the receiving end of the system which you studied and taught with such conspicuous success."

He added: "All of this, of course, will have a profound effect on your career, but I conclude by expressing the hope that you can one day return to the field of criminology in which you have so much to contribute, with the advantage of the new perspective you will have having seen the system in operation from the inside."

The judge added: "I want to say something to the family of Jahmel Jones. Whatever else can be said of him, he did not deserve to die. I was greatly moved by the victim impact statement from his mother, and I want his family to know that I have taken into account the terrible effect that his death has had on their lives. I wish to express to them my own condolences for their loss."

Following the conviction, Sarah Dineley, District Crown Prosecutor for the CPS in Wessex, said: "It is difficult to understand in this case how Rachel Kenehan, a university lecturer who was completing her PhD in criminology threw away her promising career and future to be involved in the criminal activities of her young boyfriend Pierre Lewis and his two co-defendants.

"These criminal activities led to the brutal death of Jahmel Jones, who had also chosen to lead a criminal lifestyle.

"She met Pierre Lewis through her charitable mentoring work with young male offenders with the aim of reducing their re-offending on release from prison.

"However, she failed to observe the boundaries that were set out by the charity between mentors and offenders and became infatuated with him.

"Her actions in this criminal enterprise showed the extent of that infatuation and what lengths she was prepared to go to for her boyfriend."

Describing the murder, Ms Dineley continued: "Jahmel Jones had selected the St Mary's area of Southampton to sell crack cocaine and heroin.

"He was quite established in Southampton and would regularly deal from flats belonging to drug users.

"Forbes, Lewis and Boateng had also chosen the St Mary's area in which to ply their drugs and they became rivals of Jones.

"They would travel back and forth from London to Southampton bringing with them crack and heroin.

"They would stay free of charge in flats belonging to addicts in return for drugs.

"They believed Jones had robbed them of drugs and as a result sought retribution - the retribution was execution by shooting.

"Once the killing was done, they fled back to London with the assistance of Kenehan who picked them up from Basingstoke and they all returned to her home where they stayed for three days.

"Whilst there is no evidence that she knew that they had planned to kill Jahmel Jones, the jury at Winchester Crown Court heard how she assisted them and went to great efforts to destroy the evidence.

"The evidence also showed how she also assisted the defendants in their supply of drugs by paying in excess of £4,000 for hire cars for the numerous trips that the defendants made to Southampton."

She added: "Our thoughts are with the family of Jahmel Jones at this time."
